The newest name on our list started where a lot of Langley musicians do: in the music program at Langley Fine Arts School in Fort Langley. His label, Big Loud, says that’s where he first studied music, before Berklee College of Music in Boston. When the National Arts Centre put him on a bill in Ottawa in November 2025, it simply called him a country singer-songwriter from Langley.

Back home after Berklee, Phillips did the slow work: coffee shops, pubs and weekly club residencies around Vancouver, which led to opening spots for Dallas Smith, Josh Ross and MacKenzie Porter, including at the Commodore Ballroom. In 2024 he moved to Nashville and signed a publishing deal with Big Loud and Local Hay.

Then it sped up. Wikipedia says his 2025 debut single, “Something Else,” reached No. 4 on the Billboard Canada Country chart, and he opened Smith’s unplugged tour across Canada that fall. In 2026 he signed a record deal with Big Loud and Local Hay, picked up his first CCMA nomination (breakthrough artist of the year), and on August 10 released “Leave Me Like a Backroad,” a song he co-wrote, sung as a duet with Smith.

Follow his releases through Big Loud. For the rest of the Langley scene, see musicians from Langley.
