Langley can claim Jessica Hewitt by birth and by her first few years. She was born here in 1986 and lived in Fort Langley until the family moved to Kamloops when she was six or seven (the Langley Advance Times gave both ages in two 2014 stories). She stayed there until 18, then went to Calgary to chase the Olympics.

She still had family in Langley in 2014, and the hometown paper followed her road to Sochi closely.

Sochi, 2014

Hewitt was part of the Canadian women’s 3,000 m relay team at the Sochi Winter Olympics with Marie-Ève Drolet, Valérie Maltais, Marianne St-Gelais and Jessica Gregg. South Korea won. Canada crossed third, then moved up to silver when China was disqualified for obstruction. She also skated the individual 500 m and finished 13th.

The photo above is from that relay’s medal ceremony, taken from high in the stands, with the three medal teams in a line on the ice.

Before Sochi, Olympic.ca credits her with relay medals at the 2009, 2011 and 2013 world championships. The Canadian Olympic Committee lists Kamloops as her hometown and Montreal as her residence.

Olympedia, the Olympic results database, counts seven Olympians born in Langley. Three of them went to Winter Games: T. J. Mulock, who played hockey for Germany at Vancouver 2010; Hewitt in 2014; and hockey player Jenn Gardiner in 2026 (other sources give Gardiner’s birthplace as Surrey).
