We have a friend whose daughter is, let’s say, selective about where she’s happy to go. She likes going to the chiropractor. That was our first clue.

Since then we’ve mentioned Fort Family to a fair few people, and the ones who’ve been all come back with the same report: the staff are friendly and cheerful in a way that doesn’t feel put on, the doctors take time to explain what they’re doing, and nobody feels hurried. It’s a small, family-run practice, open since 2008, and they mean the “family” part. They’ve seen babies hours old and a patient who’s 100.

We’ve been inside the new place on Church Street (they moved one block over from Glover Road in June 2025), and it’s a nice surprise. The treatment rooms look like someone’s living room: green velvet loveseats, soft lamps, big plants, a wall of framed kids’ paintings. There’s a little play corner with a red lion chair and bins of books, so a younger sibling has somewhere to be while a parent is on the table. Out front, rusted-steel planters full of feather grass and a wooden bench. It’s just a cute business.

Two practical things. Booking is by phone only, and Friday wraps up at 3, so if you need an after-work slot, aim for Tuesday or Thursday. And fill in the intake form at home; there are separate ones for adults, kids and infants on their new patients page.

More on who runs it and the first visit on their Shop Local profile.

Go if you want a chiropractor the whole family can share, kids included, from people who seem genuinely happy to see you. Skip if you need evening or weekend appointments; it’s a weekday clinic.
