If you’ve noticed the big glass building on Old Yale Road is busy on Saturdays and Sundays, that’s because it’s two churches. The building belongs to Church in the Valley, a Seventh-day Adventist congregation that worships on Saturday, the Sabbath. On Sunday mornings it hosts Village Church Langley South, the Langley site of a multisite church with locations in Surrey, Vancouver, Calgary and Oakville. Different congregations, different days, the same roof.
Both run a lot for kids and teens, so families are well served whichever day suits them.
Saturdays: Church in the Valley
Church in the Valley opened in September 2015, when Langley’s and Aldergrove’s Adventist churches merged into one congregation. It belongs to the British Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
A Saturday starts with a café at 9. Worship begins at 10, and the church’s own pages put the end at 11 or 11:30, so allow for the longer one. Kids Zone, a children’s church, runs during the service. After worship, small groups at 11:30 cover every age, including Spanish- and Russian-speaking groups.
There’s plenty beyond Saturday morning:
- Kids: Thursday Kids Clubs after school, plus the Adventurer Club for ages 4 to 10, which meets two Saturday afternoons a month.
- Teens: Pathfinders, and Saturday groups for Grades 6–8 (Journey) and Grades 9–12 (NXTGEN), with youth nights and outreach events through the fall.
- Young adults: “Valley Co.”, with a Saturday group for roughly ages 18 to 35.
- Community: an Acts of Kindness program that has run kids’ and women’s evenings and a free oil-change day for single moms.
On a first visit, look for volunteers in blue at the welcome desk. They hand out free Bibles to newcomers. Dress however you like: the church’s own line on it is that it’s up to you.
Sundays: Village Church Langley South

Village Church holds two Sunday services, at 9 and 11. Each runs about 75 minutes, with a sermon of 35 to 40 minutes. Its website doesn’t name a denomination, but Fellowship Pacific, the regional body of Fellowship Baptist churches, lists Village Church Langley South as a member church.
Village Kids covers newborns through Grade 5 during both services, with computerized check-in. The church suggests arriving ten minutes early on your first visit so you’re not rushing the sign-in. Grades 6–8 have Jr. Youth during the service. High schoolers are encouraged to sit in the main service and have their own small groups and youth nights during the week. Young adults connect through community groups, and you can text the church line to join their list.
There’s no dress code. Greeters wear “How can I help?” name tags, and there’s a Connect Desk in the lobby if you have questions. Missed a week? Full services are posted on the church’s YouTube channel.
Good to know
- Neither church’s website mentions parking. On a busy Sunday, give yourself a few extra minutes.
- The two congregations are separate. Questions about Saturday programs go to Church in the Valley, and Sunday questions go to Village Church.
- Program times shift by season. Check the Church in the Valley and Village Church sites before you go.
