Golf just outside Langley: Hazelmere and Swaneset

Two courses run by the same group as Belmont, close enough for a Langley golfer but over the line: Hazelmere in South Surrey and Swaneset in Pitt Meadows.

They aren’t in Langley, so they’re not on our list of Langley golf courses. But plenty of Langley golfers play them, and if you already book Belmont you’re one click away from both. Here’s what each one offers and how to get there.

Hazelmere sits on 8 Avenue in South Surrey a few blocks west of 196 Street, so for south Langley it’s a short drive. The group describes the fairways as mature and tree-lined. It’s a par 72 with four sets of tees running from 5,279 to 6,627 yards.

Practice. This is the big draw. There’s a 30,000-square-foot grass tee deck from April to October, a covered mat area from November to March, plus a short game area with a bunker, two chipping greens and a 3,600-square-foot putting area. The Hazelmere Golf Academy has an indoor simulator, launch monitors and 3D video swing analysis, and the shop does TaylorMade club fitting. The range is open dawn to dusk, but it closes Wednesday afternoon for maintenance and reopens Thursday morning.

Tennis. Hazelmere also has four indoor tennis courts, open year-round, with lessons from certified pros.

Food. The Hazelmere Bistro is open daily from 11 am to 9 pm, kitchen until 8:30. The clubhouse also hosts Sunday brunch, holiday buffets, weddings and tournaments.

Rates. Adult fees are priced per tee time on the booking site, like Belmont. The only fixed rates the course posts are for juniors (2025): $50 plus GST any time on weekdays, and $60 plus GST after noon on weekends and holidays.

Good to know. The pace target is four hours for 18. Every player needs their own set of clubs. No jeans, sweatpants or athletic shorts, men’s shirts need a collar, and no outside alcohol.

16651 Rannie Road, Pitt Meadows, BC, V3Y 1Z1North Pitt Meadows, in the Pitt River valley

DirectionsFrom Langley, cross the Golden Ears Bridge into Pitt Meadows, then head north to Rannie Road.

Swaneset is the big one: two 18-hole courses designed by Lee Trevino, set in the Pitt River valley with streams, lakes and mountain views. The stone clubhouse is hard to miss. From Langley, it’s over the Golden Ears Bridge and north through Pitt Meadows.

The two courses.

Course Par Tees Yardage Rating / slope
Links 72 5 sets 5,269 to 7,126 74.4 / 137
Resort 72 3 sets 5,624 to 7,000 73.6 / 137

The Links course is the longer of the two from the back tees, and both play to the same slope, so neither is a soft option.

Practice. An 18-acre, double-ended range. The north end (9,400 square feet of grass) is the public side and the south end is for members, with 10 covered mat stations open to everyone when it’s wet. There are three practice bunkers, a 2,000-square-foot chipping green and two putting greens. Lessons are with PGA of Canada instructors through The Golf Mecca. The range is open dawn to dusk and closes for maintenance from Wednesday at 1 pm until Thursday at 10 am.

Food. The grill is open Wednesday to Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays through the off-season. Check the restaurant page for current hours. The clubhouse does weddings and events too.

Rates. Adult fees are priced per tee time on the booking site. The posted junior rates (2025) match the other two courses: $50 plus GST any time on weekdays, and $60 plus GST after noon on weekends and holidays.

Contact: golf shop 604-465-3888, main office and dining 604-465-9380. Swaneset course info.

Booking either one

Both courses use the same booking system as Belmont. You book and cancel online, and your card is pre-authorized for the full amount, with the charge showing up on the day you play. Cancellation and no-show rules are on the group’s booking and play policies page. The group also sells annual passes that cover its courses.
