Most of the year, Thunderbird Show Park is horses. Hunter and jumper tournaments, Grand Prix Sundays, riders from all over. In the winter the rings go quiet, and this year tbird is putting its buildings to work: it is booking holiday parties, corporate gatherings and private events through the off-season. We have not been to an event there, so this is what the venue publishes, not a review.
The spaces
There are two. The Timberframe Lodge is the smaller one, set up for cocktail-style gatherings of up to 60 people, with lounge seating and high-top tables. tbird suggests it for receptions, networking nights and casual holiday parties, or as the pre-dinner room before a sit-down meal.
The Winter Pavilion is the big room, for up to 200 guests at banquet tables with buffet dining. That is the corporate Christmas party and year-end dinner option. One line in tbird’s brochure says up to 300, so if your list is large, ask which number applies to your setup.
Both have full bar service. tbird’s own description of the appeal is the timberframe architecture and the equestrian setting, and that is fair: it is a farm property of more than 100 acres with mountain views, not a hotel ballroom.
What comes with it
According to tbird’s hosting brochure, a booking includes the room, tables and chairs, setup and teardown, event staffing and free on-site parking. Food is a custom package: charcuterie, passed canapés, buffet dinners, seafood displays, dessert stations and late-night snacks are all on the menu list. Extras you can add include live musicians or a DJ, audio-visual gear (microphones, sound, TVs and video walls), seasonal florals and décor, and shuttle transportation for guests. There is no price list; tbird quotes each event.
Getting there
Plan on driving. tbird’s directions: from Highway 1, exit at 232 Street, take 72 Avenue east from the roundabout, cross the railway tracks, and turn right on 248 Street. The grounds are wheelchair and stroller accessible, though the roads are wide gravel rather than pavement. The main office is at 24550 72 Avenue; the spectator entrance is at 6975 248 Street.
How to ask
