Buying a stroller online is a gamble. You can’t fold it, lift it into the trunk or push it around a corner. Active Baby is where a lot of Langley parents go to do exactly that. It’s a family business run by July Lu and Chen Dong. They opened their first shop in North Vancouver in 2009, and the Langley store on 200 Street followed in the summer of 2015.
What you’ll find
- Strollers and car seats from UPPAbaby, Bugaboo, Britax, Nuna, Thule and others, set out so you can compare them side by side
- Carriers, nursery furniture and the everyday basics
- Belan.J clothing, a Vancouver-designed baby and kids’ line that July started in 2021
- Jellycat soft toys, books and small gifts
- Their own gift sets: a box of crocheted animal rattles, wooden teethers, a soft brush and a pacifier clip, priced around $40 to $50
People who shop here mostly talk about getting gear explained patiently, without being rushed into the priciest option. The gift shelf gets a lot of love from people buying for someone else’s new baby.
Before you go
They’re open Monday to Saturday from 10 to 6, and Sundays and holidays from 11 to 5. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve they close at 3, and they’re closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. If you order online, you can pick it up in the store; bring your order number. Anything transferred from the North Vancouver shop can take a little longer.
