Roots
Started around 1969 out of a hot-pink former mail truck

Dance Box started with founder Russ Duncan driving dance supplies around in a hot-pink former mail truck, around 1969. Then he sold out of the family home, opened a permanent store in Coquitlam in the late 1970s, and added this downtown Langley shop not long after. Erin owns it now, and it’s still a dancewear specialist through and through.

Pointe shoes

Pointe-shoe fitting is what Dance Box is best known for. Fittings are booked separately so the fitter can take their time, and that’s what reviewers mention most: patience, knowing what they’re doing, and getting it right. If you have a dancer going up onto pointe, book a fitting rather than just walking in.

Everything else on the racks

  • Ballet and jazz shoes, plus other dance styles
  • Leotards for kids and adults, and children’s ballet dresses
  • Royal Academy of Dance uniform pieces
  • Gymnastics leotards, tights, warm-ups and dance bags

Prices aren’t posted online; the shop asks you to come in for the full range.

Hours

Monday to Thursday 11 to 5, Friday 11 to 6, and weekends 10 to 5. Call 604-530-7615 to book a pointe fitting.
