Velocity Cycles posts its news like a friend texting you: all caps when the service queue is full, a joke about the weather, a plain list of which brands it can and can’t get this year. That voice tells you most of what you need to know about the shop. It’s independent, it’s in Walnut Grove, it has been going since the early 2000s (the company was incorporated in 2003, and the shop has since celebrated its 20th anniversary), and it would rather be honest with you than sell you the wrong bike.

On the floor

The range is broad for a shop this size. Mountain bikes from Transition and Forbidden, hybrids and touring bikes from Fuji, gravel and city bikes from Breezer, Surly, BMX from SE Racing, Sunday and Haro, and Tuesday cruisers when they can get them. For small kids there are balance bikes from Early Rider, Strider and Frog, and Havoc and Lucky scooters. Smith helmets and goggles, Dakine packs and gloves, and the usual parts and tools fill the walls. There’s an online store for checking stock before you drive over.

In the back

Service is the other half of the business, and it runs differently from most shops. There are no appointments. You drop your bike off, tell them what’s wrong, and it goes into the queue; turnaround is usually five to ten business days, longer in the spring rush. Flat repairs are done for next-day pickup so they can make sure the tire holds overnight. Trailforks lists the shop as a Shimano Service Center. They’ll work on bikes from brands they don’t sell, including Norco, Giant and Trek.

A few things they won’t take: throttle e-bikes and e-scooters, and any e-bike that isn’t built on a Shimano or Bosch system. They’ve been clear about it on their site, citing battery fire risk.

Before you go

  • Bring your bike in early in the year. By late spring the queue fills, and in 2026 they paused tune-up drop-offs for a while unless you’d bought the bike there.
  • Closed Sunday and Monday, so plan drop-offs and pickups for Tuesday to Saturday.
  • For where to ride once it’s fixed, our cycling in Langley page and the Walnut Grove guide are good next reads.
