- Hey Langley events
Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which is good news for anyone planning a late night of candy. Here is what the two municipalities and the fort have published for 2026, plus the fireworks rules so everyone enjoys the evening safely.
Township of Langley activities
The Township’s Halloween page, issued in September 2026, lists activities from October 23 to 31 at its recreation and arts and culture facilities. The four it names are a potion-making activity, a spooky swim, a Halloween night ride and a costume skate. It says registration is required for most activities. The page we read did not show times, places or prices, so use the “find details and register” link on the Township’s page or call a local recreation centre.
Grave Tales at Fort Langley
Parks Canada runs Grave Tales evening tours at Fort Langley National Historic Site from October 16 to 31, 2026. There are four tours:
- Youth Grave Tales: October 17 and 24, 6 to 7:30pm, $24.58, ages 8 and up with an adult.
- Spirit of the Place: October 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30, 7 to 8:30pm, $24.58, ages 18 and up.
- Graves of the Tradesmen: several nights, 8 to 10pm, $31.58, ages 18 and up, with a 4 km outdoor walk.
- Descent into Darkness: several nights, 9pm to midnight, $44.97, ages 18 and up, with mature content.
Group sizes are limited to 20 or 25, so book ahead. Questions: [email protected] or 604-513-4777.
At the museum of flight
The Canadian Museum of Flight lists a Halloween event on Saturday, October 31, 10am to 4pm. See our museum page and check the museum’s site for details.
City of Langley
The City’s events calendar did not list a Halloween event when we looked. Check the City’s events page closer to the day.
Fireworks: what the rules say
Here is what each municipality has published.
Township of Langley. The Township says a permit from the Fire Department is required to sell, give, trade, possess or discharge fireworks. Public fireworks events need an application at least 10 days ahead, with a supervisor’s certificate from Natural Resources Canada, a site plan, the property owner’s approval, liability insurance and a fee. Fireworks cannot be discharged within 50 metres of anything flammable. The page says non-compliance leads to ticketing but does not list fine amounts. To report a fireworks complaint, use the Township’s online form; after hours, contact the RCMP non-emergency line. For fire department questions: Fire Hall 6, 22170 50 Avenue, 604-532-7500, [email protected].
City of Langley. Under the City’s Fireworks Bylaw No. 2603, selling fireworks is prohibited, and possessing or setting them off requires a display permit from the Fire Chief. Permit applicants must be adults, apply at least 10 business days ahead and hold a supervisor’s certificate. Minors may not possess or discharge fireworks. The bylaw sets fines of up to $10,000 per violation. Bylaw text is from 2005, so confirm the current wording with the City.
