Jay Lundgren was elected mayor of the Township of Langley on October 17, 2026. He ran with the Langley Strong slate and won 18,302 votes (54.21%) in the Township’s results, in a two-person race for the mayor’s chair. This page collects what he, his slate and local news outlets have published about his background. It is a neutral summary, not an endorsement or a review. The Township’s individual mayor page still showed the outgoing mayor when we checked, so we link the main council page.
Background
On his Langley Strong profile, Lundgren lists a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trinity Western University, with a major in marketing and a minor in economics. The same page says he also studied journalism and sports broadcasting at BCIT, and worked in broadcasting at CityTV and CTV earlier in his career.
The profile describes charity and event work: it says he has emceed or helped fundraise at more than 17 charity events and has emceed more than 500 weddings in the Township. It also lists coaching basketball, ball hockey and baseball for over a decade, with groups including Elevate Basketball Club, Langley Girls Academy, Valley Ball Hockey, Langley Baseball and local high school teams.
Daily Hive’s election-results story describes him as a longtime Township resident and business leader who coaches young athletes, and says he ran on affordability, stronger neighbourhoods and a “government that listens”. The Langley Advance Times reported that he had first planned to run for council only, and was persuaded to run for mayor.
Business and community affiliations
As listed on his Langley Strong profile:
- Employer: Vice president of business development and partnerships at Agency Media.
- Business interests: partner in Ava.ai (described as an AI marketing platform) and in Coastal Drone.
- Past nonprofit role: formerly vice president of marketing and philanthropy at Habitat for Humanity.
- Coaching and fundraising: the groups named in the Background section above.
The profile lists no board seats. We have not seen the Township or Elections BC disclosures for 2026 yet (see below).
Official disclosures: Elections BC publishes candidates’ campaign financing disclosure statements for local elections, due 90 days after the election, so the Township 2026 statements should appear there in early 2027. Councillors also file a statement of financial interest with the Township; ask the Township’s corporate office via the Mayor and Council page how to view it.
Previous public service
No prior elected office is listed on his Langley Strong profile or in the Langley Advance Times or Daily Hive reports we checked.
