Steve Ferguson was re-elected to Township of Langley council on October 17, 2026, with 12,044 votes, running with Progress For Langley. We could not read a campaign profile for him, so this page relies on the Township’s own council page and local news.
Background
The Township’s page says he has lived in Langley for about 40 years and raised three children in the Township. It lists his professional background as special education teacher, school counsellor and small business owner, and names his priorities as supporting seniors, protecting agricultural land and food crops, and developing parks, recreation and cultural opportunities. It also mentions an interest in camping, collector cars and motorcycles.
The Advance Times reported him as an incumbent who kept his seat in 2026.
Business and community affiliations
As listed on his Township page:
- Work and business: former special education teacher and school counsellor, and a small business owner (the business is not named).
- Current roles: member of the Rotary Club of Langley Central; member of the Salvation Army Gateway of Hope Community Council; member of the Board of Variance; co-chair of the Seniors Advisory Committee; several Metro Vancouver committee and transportation alternate seats.
- Past roles: include Metro Vancouver director, chair of the Langley Senior Resource Society, vice-chair of the Langley Seniors Centre and many youth sport coaching and volunteer roles.
Official disclosures: Elections BC publishes candidates’ campaign financing disclosure statements for local elections, due 90 days after the election, so the Township 2026 statements should appear there in early 2027. Councillors also file a statement of financial interest with the Township; ask the Township’s corporate office via the Mayor and Council page how to view it.
Previous council service
The Township’s page says he was first elected in 1988 and has served eight terms as a Township councillor. The Advance Times reported him as an incumbent re-elected in 2026. His page also lists past service as a Metro Vancouver director.
