Langley Hospice Society

The Langley Hospice Society looks after two groups of people: those living with a life-limiting illness, and those grieving someone who has died. It’s a gentle subject, so we’ll keep this page plain and practical. Everything below comes from the Society’s own site.

What it offers

• Hospice palliative care. Care aimed at comfort and quality of life when a cure is no longer possible. The site says professional and volunteer support can happen at home, at the Langley Hospice Residence, in hospital or in care facilities.
• The Langley Hospice Residence. The palliative care page describes a 10-bed, home-like residence with 24-hour care. The home page also mentions a new 15-bed residence project.
• Grief support. Individual, family and group support for adults, plus support for children, teens and families. A teen grief camp is mentioned on the home page.
• Community education. Workshops, presentations and resources for professionals, volunteers and the public.

The pages we read don’t say what any of this costs, nor the eligibility rules for palliative care, so call and ask.

Getting help

Phone 604-530-1115 on weekdays. The events page notes that most bereavement programs start with an intake conversation with the adult bereavement coordinator before you join a group. The events listing for late October 2026 included walking groups, coffee drop-ins, yoga for grieving adults, a teen drop-in and a fall potluck, so there’s usually something on in the week.

Volunteering

The volunteer page lists roles at the Supportive Programs Centre (reception, community outreach and a quilting group), at the Second Story Treasures thrift store, with children and youth, and as client volunteers with the hospice residence team and in homes, care homes and hospitals. Every role needs a police record check. Client volunteers take a 12-week, 36-hour training, offered twice a year, and must be 19 or older. There’s an online application form on the site.

Donating and fundraisers

You can give online through the Society’s donate page, or by CanadaHelps, and the site lists membership and the thrift store as other ways to help. One fundraiser on the events page was Glass Half Full on Friday, October 23, 2026, 6:30 to 9:30 pm, at The Hangar at Harrison Pointe, with tastings, hors d’oeuvres and a handcrafted tumbler from the Fraser Valley Potters’ Guild.
