We will remember them

Every November, Langley stops at its cenotaphs. These pages are our part: the ceremonies, the names, the stories behind them, and the people in our community who serve and have served.

Two minutes of silence at 11 am, wherever you are

Langley has four public ceremonies: Douglas Park in Langley City, and Aldergrove, Fort Langley and Murrayville in the Township. All four are outdoors, so dress for the weather and arrive early. Our Remembrance Day page has the details for each.

The poppy

Wear it over your heart

The Royal Canadian Legion's poppy campaign runs to November 11. Donations go to veterans and their families, and money raised in Langley stays in Langley. Wear it on your left side, and many people leave it at the cenotaph after the service.

At 11 o'clock

Two minutes, wherever you are

If you can't get to a cenotaph, stop at 11:00 am anyway: at work, in the car pulled over, in a classroom. Several Langley ceremonies are livestreamed by their organisers.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
