Step inside and you meet a wall of pendulum clocks, with a row of carved cuckoo clocks hanging underneath. It’s a fair preview of It’s About Time & Jewelry: a downtown Langley shop that sells watches, clocks and fine jewellery, and also fixes all three on the premises.
What’s on the shelves
Watches are the biggest part of the story. The shop says it is an authorized dealer for Bulova, Citizen, Casio, Frédérique Constant, Hamilton, Longines, Seiko and others. The display cases run from Luminox dive and field watches (one case is topped off with a brass diving helmet) to a long case of Casio, Edifice and G-Shock. Their website also has a pre-owned section.
Jewellery is the other counter: rings, engagement rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets, plus custom work. Clocks cover wall, mantel, floor, tabletop and cuckoo styles.
The repair bench
This is why plenty of people come through the door. These are the details from their services page, and they can change:
- Batteries from $20, and bracelet sizing from $20
- Watch work: movement overhauls, strap and bracelet changes, crystal replacement, acrylic polishing
- Engraving, personal or corporate, on watches and jewellery
- Jewellery: repairs, sizing, cleaning, polishing and custom builds
- Clocks: mantel, cuckoo, wall, floor, anniversary and grandfather clocks. For an oversized clock, they’ll come to your home anywhere in Metro Vancouver by appointment
In-store estimates are free, and most items don’t need an appointment.
Who’s behind it
Founder and watchmaker Vahid has more than 40 years in the watch and jewellery trade. The shop describes itself as family-owned. A 2014 Vancouver Sun profile, reprinted in The Westcoast Reader, described him selling and repairing clocks and watches in Langley and building city clocks for towns in Canada and the U.S. That side of the business has its own site, itsabouttimebc.com, which lists custom street, tower and golf-course clocks.
