Drive north on 248 Street and you’d never guess there’s a frontier town back there, complete with an old-west main street. That’s Jamestown, a film set on a farm that’s been in the MacInnes family for more than 45 years. Much of the time it’s a working film location. One night each summer, it’s a party.
How a farm got a western town
One of the productions that shot on the farm was Scary Movie 4, which spent about a month there in memorably wet, muddy weather. Rather than see its buildings go to the landfill afterwards, the family kept them. Later, a horse wrangler working on the production Beyond Sherwood Forest suggested moving those buildings together and building a proper western town. They did, and named it Jamestown.
The farm is about 100 acres in northeast Langley. The family is firm that it’s a working farm first: filming is scheduled around planting and harvest, and they say the film income helps pay for farm equipment, land and water care, and keeping the land in agriculture.
What’s been filmed there
According to the farm, productions shot at the Jamestown set include:
- When Calls the Heart, which has filmed on the farm since 2013 and was piloted there
- DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
- Once Upon a Time
- Timeless
- Riverdale
- Are You Afraid of the Dark?
- Monster High
- The Good Doctor
- Various Hallmark and made-for-TV movies
Other parts of the farm, including a fake mountain and mine entrance built onto the back of the brewery, have turned up in Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix), Fire Country, Van Helsing and Wild Cards.
The brewery
Locality Brewing opened on the same farm in the summer of 2021. It’s a farm brewery: the family grows barley and hops on site and malts its own grain. Unlike the film set, the brewery is open to the public, with a tasting room, picnic spots, live music on weekends, food trucks, and a trail around the pond where dogs are welcome. Check its website for current hours before you go.
Can you visit the set?
We couldn’t find any published tours or regular public hours for the Jamestown set itself. It’s an active film location on private farmland, so please don’t wander in. The way most of us will see it is at a ticketed event.
Gone Country at Jamestown
In 2025, Twins Cancer Fundraising moved its Gone Country festival here after a decade in Cloverdale. The town’s streets fill with bars, pop-up actors, a barber, a mechanical bull and a fishing pond, and since 2026 the main stage has been on the grass behind town. Around 3,000 people came in 2026. The next one is July 17, 2027.
