Locality Brewing
A farm brewery on a 96-acre family farm in Aldergrove that grows its own barley and hops, malts the grain on site and pours the results in a taproom with picnic grounds, ponds and weekend live music.

Park beside the red tractors and the brewhouse door is right there. Locality isn’t a brewery that happens to have a farm behind it. It’s a working farm on 252 Street that decided to make its own beer, and the taproom sits in the middle of it.
Field to glass
Melanie MacInnes grew up on this land. It was a dairy farm and feedlot until the cows were sold in 1992, then horse boarding, and for years a location for TV and film shoots. In 2016 she and her husband, Andy Hamer, had the idea of brewing here and planted a test patch of barley, harvested by hand. A bigger planting followed, then a malt house that Andy, an engineer, built himself. The doors opened in July 2021.
By their account, the barley and hops are grown on the farm, the grain is malted on site, and the beer is brewed on the spot. The first beer, the Thank You Honey Lager, is a core pour made with ingredients from the farm, wildflower honey included. They also malt grain for other local farms.
What a visit looks like
You sit outside: picnic areas around the brewhouse, some beside the ponds and some among the hop vines, with trails to wander. Kids and pets are welcome. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 3 to 6 pm there’s live music (they call it Hops & Harmonies), no tickets needed. Food trucks are scheduled on some weekends, there’s a taproom and picnic menu on their site, and their events page mentions non-alcoholic options too. The beer also comes in cans to take home.
They’ve collected some hardware: the 2026 Culinary & Agritourism Experience Award at the BC Tourism Industry Awards, and Gold in the Imperial Stout category at the 2025 Canada Beer Cup.
Before you go
- Hours change on November 1 to Thursday through Sunday, noon to 8. Older pages on their site still show 9 to 5 template hours, so go by the homepage.
- Accessible parking is marked close to the tasting room, and there’s accessible seating. For farm tours or other needs, email [email protected].
- The Chamber lists the address as 25160 72 Avenue, and the sign on the brewhouse says the same. It’s the same corner as 7111 252 Street, so either works in your map.
