Friday nights from September to May, there’s live music in the Root Cellar Lounge on a 30-acre farm out on 240 Street, from 6 to 9. That’s the quickest way to see what Roots and Wings is: not a shop you duck into, but a working farm that happens to have a distillery on it, and a calendar that fills up with things to do.
What they make
The company was incorporated in 2015, and the sign over the tasting-room door says “Est. 2015”. The vodka and gin start with corn and potatoes grown on the property, which their site describes as a farm that’s been in the family for three generations and Langley’s first craft distillery. The gins use botanicals, some from their own garden. The shop also sells whiskeys (including a bourbon-style spirit aged in new American oak), an absinthe, liqueurs, honey-sweetened soju and bottled cocktails.
On their online shop (Oct 31, 2026) Vital Vodka was $31.49 and most of the gins $31, with the whiskeys running from about $31 to $60. The tasting room, which they call The Drinkery, lets you try before you buy, and the same building is a bottle shop with gifts. They’ll also build a custom gift basket, starting at $25.
On the calendar
As listed on their site at the end of October:
- Stitch and Sip: the first Thursday of each month, 5 to 8 pm (Nov 5, Dec 3)
- Wreath-making workshop with Styled By Wild: Nov 26
- Holiday Sip N’ Shop: Saturday, Nov 28, noon to 6 pm, with local vendors (the sixth year)
- Pet Portrait Paint Night: Sunday, Dec 6, 4 to 6:30 pm, $53
- Christmas Canvas Art Paint Night: Thursday, Dec 17, 6 to 8 pm, $23
Friday music runs through the winter; the summer version moves out to a railcar stage on the lawn, May to September, with a seasonal picnic area and yard games.
The people
Rob Rindt has lived on the farm his whole life; their site calls him a farmer and serial entrepreneur, and the distillery one of his better ideas. Rebekah Crowley is a part owner who says she loves bringing people together and creating memorable experiences.
Before you go
Holiday hours aren’t on the website, so check their Instagram or Facebook. Stillhouse Pizza, their wood-fired pizza truck, is listed Friday to Sunday for the picnic-area season (May to October), so ask whether it’s out in winter. If you’re tasting, line up a driver.
