This one is a bit different. KPU runs a Brewing and Brewery Operations diploma at its Langley campus, and the beer the students make in the teaching brewery goes on sale once a week. There’s no bar and no stools. You pull up, fill a growler or grab cans, and go. It’s a cheap way to try something new: when we checked the sales page, a 64-ounce fill was $12 and a six-pack $15, Prices can change, so look again before you go.

The line-up changes with whatever the class is brewing. There’s an annual Student Signature Series, and in March 2026 the Langley Advance Times reported that the year’s Pink Boots collaboration beer was being poured at the weekly fill. Sales are paused around campus closures; the page said they’d been closed October 16 and were back on October 23, 2026.

Who runs it

Nobody owns this one in the usual sense. It’s the teaching brewery of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Brewing and Brewery Operations diploma: a 4,500 sq ft lab on the Langley campus with a fully automated two-hectolitre pilot system and six 50-litre kits. KPU’s faculty page lists the instructors who run it, Dominic Bernard, Alek Egi, Olga Mikova, Michael Miller and Martina Solano Bielen. Two of them hold KPU’s own brewing diploma. The students do the brewing. Second-year students’ capstone beers are the Signature Series.

Awards and recognition

  • 2019 BC Beer Awards: Brewery of the Year, plus five medals, including first place for its Birra Rossa in North American Amber and Brown Ale (CBC News).
