Spotted a pothole, a dark streetlight or a pile of dumped boxes? Each Langley has a way to tell the people who can fix it. Which one you use depends on where the problem is, not where you live. Not sure which side of the line you’re on? See City vs. Township.
Township of Langley
The Township’s Report a Problem page sorts requests into categories, and each one leads to an online form or to advice on the best way to get in touch. The categories include:
- Roads and transportation: potholes, road safety, snow and ice, street lights
- Community cleanliness: graffiti, illegal dumping, street sweeping, weeds
- Water and drainage, and sanitary sewer requests
- Parks, trails and trees
- Garbage, recycling and Green Cart requests
- Bylaw complaints, parking issues and animal control
- General questions through “Ask us a question”
Add as much detail as you can about the location. The Township reviews online reports during business hours, and if you give an email address it will reply with a service request number.
For emergencies, don’t use the website. The Township gives 604-532-7300 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) and 604-543-6722 after hours, on weekends and on statutory holidays. The general phone line is 604-534-3211.
City of Langley
The City has an online Request for Service form. Its Contact Us page names potholes, fallen trees and burnt-out streetlights as examples, and staff reply during regular hours.
Other City contacts from the same page:
- General inquiries: 604-514-2800, [email protected]
- Bylaw enforcement: 604-514-2800, [email protected]
- Engineering: 604-514-2997, [email protected]
- Operations Centre (5713 198 Street): 604-514-2910, [email protected]
For an after-hours emergency such as a water main break or flood, the City lists Surrey Fire dispatch at 604-543-6722, which notifies standby operations staff. For anything life-threatening, call 9-1-1.
Tips for a faster fix
- Give a street address or the nearest cross street.
- Say what you saw and when.
- Add your email if the form lets you, so you can get a reference number.
- One report per problem is easiest to track.
