On the last Sunday of April, a high-school parking lot in Aldergrove fills up with cars older than most of the people looking at them. A 1952 ambulance, a 1969 Camaro convertible, a 1975 Bronco, a 1936 International pickup: those were among the vehicles that took home sponsor-presented awards in 2026, according to the club’s own awards pages. Spectators walk in free.
The show belongs to the Central Fraser Valley Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada, a volunteer club whose newsletter, the Crankshaft Journal, is the best record of how the show gets made. The June 2026 issue reports 110 members renewed for the year. Those members do the work: parking, gate registration, the raffle, trophies, portable washrooms, the food truck and the sponsor list.
What the day looks like
The 2026 poster, which the chapter reprinted in its March newsletter, calls it the 12th annual show. Show cars could register from 7 to 9 a.m. for $25 at the gate or $20 online, with part of each entry going to the school’s automotive program. Cars were on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there was a raffle and a 50/50, and trophies were handed out at 2:30. Food was on site, and the March minutes name the same food truck as the year before.
The show is open to vintage, classic and modified vehicles, and the 2026 poster also promised dash plaques, entertainment and “much more”.
How big does it get? The May 2025 issue of the journal, covering the 11th show on April 27, 2025, says there were over 200 vehicles and calls the day a roaring success. That’s the photo at the top of this page.
Where the money goes
The chapter has a school partner, and it is the point of the whole thing. The Langley Advance Times reported on October 25, 2026 that the club had just donated $4,500 to the automotive service technician program at Aldergrove Community Secondary. The money comes from a share of the show’s proceeds. The same article says 2026 was the club’s 12th year of the show and the 7th year of its partnership with the school’s auto trades program, and that the program gives students hands-on training for careers in the trades.
The club’s June 2026 minutes give the detail behind that cheque: a reported profit of $9,317, $3,350 in corporate sponsorship gifts that sponsors were told would go to the school, and a 50/50 draw that the raffle licence requires be donated. The committee and the executive each recommended $4,500, and the members voted it through.
Where it has been
The show has not always been in this lot. The Langley Advance Times covered the fifth show on April 30, 2017, held in the parking lot of the Otter Co-op in Aldergrove, with dozens of vintage vehicles out in the sun. By April 2018 the Aldergrove Star was reporting the sixth show at the high school, on a “Celebrating Youth & the Automobile” theme with youth displays and a $10 exhibitor entry. The school has been its home in recent years.
If you’re making a day of Aldergrove, our Aldergrove guide lists what is within a short drive.
Joining the club
The chapter holds general meetings monthly, and its June 2026 minutes list the venue as the Legacy Room at 32470 Trethewey Street. The chapter’s own site is the place to ask about membership; we haven’t seen its joining requirements published, so we won’t guess at them.
