Langley kids have more on offer after the bell than most parents can keep track of. This page is the short version, with a link to the full page for each group. If you’re trying to choose, here’s one way to think about it: uniformed groups for structure and skills, 4-H for animals and the farm, rec centres for a drop-in night with friends, and the Youth Hub for a teen who needs a hand rather than a hobby.
Uniformed groups
Cadets. Air, Sea and Army cadets for ages 12 to 18, and Navy League cadets for 9 to 12. Langley’s air squadron, 746 Lightning Hawk, is based at the airport and flies several times a year. The Sea, Army and Navy League units parade in Aldergrove. It’s government-funded, with little or no cost to join (Navy League Cadet fees vary by corps).
Scouts. Nine groups across Langley for ages 5 to 26, meeting in halls, schools and parks, including an air-themed group at the airport.
Girl Guides. About 40 units in four districts, from Sparks at 5 to Rangers at 17, for less than $200 a year plus any uniform and activity costs.
Animals and the farm
4-H. Four Langley District clubs covering beef, sheep, goats, horses, dogs, rabbits, veterinary science and photography. New members can join any time.
Clubs, camps and mentoring
BGC Langley Club. After-school programs and camps at Douglas Park, with full-day Pro-D and school-break camps where families pay what they can.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley. Matching children with adult mentors since 1974.
Rec centre programs
City of Langley. Youth activities at Timms Community Centre for ages 11 to 17, with a Games and Track Pass at $25 a year. Questions: [email protected].
Township of Langley. Active Beyond the Bell runs two hours of after-school physical activity in school gyms, at $17.10 a day for 2026–27, registered by the week or month ([email protected]). The Township’s youth drop-ins are on its drop-in schedule.
Music
Langley Community Music School has been teaching since 1969 and runs ensembles that students outside the school can join: string ensembles and junior, intermediate and senior orchestras (by audition for students from outside the school) and children’s choirs that are free apart from a registration fee.
Free help for teens
Langley Youth Hub. Food, showers, laundry, outreach, housing and job help on 203 Street, and, at Foundry Langley on Eastleigh Crescent, confidential mental health and substance-use support for ages 12 to 24. All free. Teens can find their own guide in Langley for teens, and parents covering Pro-D days and spring break can start with our school-break camps guide.
