Alder Alley is the last bowling alley in Langley. Willowbrook Lanes closed in 2017, so if you want to knock down pins anywhere in the City or the Township, this is it.

A short history

  • 1962: Jack and Dorothy Scott, who had spent years driving to Abbotsford to bowl in a league, build Alder Lanes on their own property in Aldergrove. It opens in April with six lanes, run as a family business. Jack, a long-time volunteer firefighter and Aldergrove Fair board chair, dies suddenly that December.
  • 1970s: Four more lanes go in, bringing it to the ten it has today.
  • Later: The name changes to Alder Alley. The sign still says “Est. 1962”.
  • 2017: Willowbrook Lanes closes, leaving Alder Alley as Langley’s only alley.

Bowling there now

Five-pin is the Canadian game: smaller balls with no finger holes, and five pins instead of ten, which makes it friendly for kids and first-timers. The room leans into a 1950s diner look, with red stools, a checkerboard floor and a classic car on the wall.

Public bowling is $7 a game for adults and $5 for seniors and kids, plus $3 for shoes. For a group, the hourly deal is $40 a lane for up to six bowlers, shoes extra. Saturdays are Glowbowl all day.

Birthday parties are $300 for four lanes for two hours and the dining area, and you bring your own food and cake (no alcohol). To have the whole place, private rentals run $350–$400 for two hours and up to 25 bowlers. Schools can book weekday daytime sessions for up to 48 students.

Leagues fill Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings for adults, and Saturday mornings for youth. The Tuesday league welcomes new players.

Before you go

The public hours are short and change with the season, and there’s no public bowling on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, so check the website and book ahead. Outside food isn’t allowed unless you’ve booked a party. More Aldergrove independents are on our Shop Local page.
