Fort Langley has a whole festival for cranberries, and this little log building on Mavis Avenue is where you can buy them all year. Cranberries Naturally has sold nothing but cranberry products since 1999. They call it the village’s original cranberry store, and nobody seems to argue.

Why cranberries, and why here

Every October the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival takes over Glover Road for the harvest. Jasmine Marjanovic started the business in 1999 with cranberry products she’d developed herself and a small shop in the village, paying for it herself. It later grew into wholesale. Its cranberry jalapeño jelly got a moment of fame in 2012, when it went into a Hollywood gift bag around Oscars time. The shop used to be in Gasoline Alley off Glover Road (there’s still a Gasoline Alley sign inside) and is now in the log building at 23325 Mavis Ave.

What to try

  • Cranberry jalapeño sauce, in hot, medium or mild. It’s the house signature.
  • Cranberry Zinger ($16), a salad dressing that doubles as a cooking sauce.
  • Chocolate-covered cranberries, milk or dark ($20). These are what most reviewers mention.
  • Cranberry salsa, chutney and barbecue sauce
  • Dried cranberries, 100% cranberry juice, and cranberry teas (mint, orange rooibos)

The products are made in Canada, which makes them an easy local gift for anyone visiting from away.

Before you go

It’s open seven days a week, 11 to 5, closed only Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Some older listings still give a Glover Road address; it’s on Mavis Avenue now. Call 604-888-1989. The shop also lends its courtyard to local causes: this summer it hosted an animal-rescue fundraiser.
