- Scales and makes
- North American and European trains, including Märklin, Trix, LGB, Roco and Fleischmann

Walk into InterCity and the first thing you see is a working layout on a red-skirted table in the middle of the floor. Around it are glass cases full of locomotives and freight cars. It’s the kind of shop where a beginner can buy their first loop of track and a long-time modeller can find the one tiny part they’ve been hunting for.
What they carry
- Trains: North American and European locomotives, passenger coaches and freight cars, new and second-hand, plus estate collections
- European makes: Märklin, Trix, LGB, Roco and Fleischmann
- Building the world around it: scenery, miniature buildings, figures, track, paint and tools, including a full aisle of styrene, wood and metal stock
- Repairs: fixing locomotives that won’t run, and installing DCC so you can run several trains independently
Prices vary as much as you’d expect. A British Columbia Railway boxcar in HO scale was $39.95 on their homepage when we looked.
How it started
Chris Campbell and Ken Koch, two long-time railway modellers, opened InterCity in 2023 after buying the remaining stock of Central Hobbies when its owner retired. It’s a family-run operation. In July 2026 they moved from 19965 to the corner unit at 19981 in the same plaza, going from 2,000 to 5,500 square feet with room for layouts and a proper repair bench. Some older directories still show the old number.
They also back the hobby locally: the Railway Modellers’ Meet of BC thanked them this spring for sponsoring its weathering workshop.
Hours
It’s open Tuesday to Friday 11 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 5. It’s closed Sunday and Monday. Call 778-705-2131 or browse the online store first. The shop says buses 501 and 595 stop nearby.
More independent shops in the area are on Shop Local in Walnut Grove.
