Sammy J's Grill & Bar

Thirty years is a long time for any restaurant, and longer still in a suburb where chains come and go every few blocks. Sammy J’s marked the milestone in Langley in May 2026, and the way it told the story says a lot: a family business running on a philosophy passed down from their dad, with some of today’s servers the children of the first staff and regulars.

Who runs it

Sammy J’s is family-run and has grown to four BC locations: Langley, South Surrey, Maple Ridge and West Kelowna. The Langley room is the long-standing one. The family hasn’t published names on its website, so we haven’t either.

What’s on the menu

The menu is big and wanders the map on purpose. Starters lean shareable: the house Blackjack Strips (their spiciest dish), Angus steak bites, wings, calamari and double-dip yam fries. There’s a cream of tomato soup billed as Mom’s recipe. Mains run from steak frites and a 7 oz sirloin to blackened four-cheese penne, Cajun chicken linguini and a Creole jambalaya, plus a page of rice and noodle bowls. Thin-crust pizzas and a long burger list fill in the rest.

People who don’t eat meat get their own section (veggie skins, quesadillas, fajitas, a burger called the Tree Hugger), and there’s a gluten-friendly list too, with a fair warning that the fryers are shared.

Weekends and deals

Brunch runs Saturdays and Sundays until 1 pm, which is why the doors open at 10 on Sunday. The website lists weekly deals: happy hour from 3 pm to close on Mondays, $5 off wings on Wednesdays, and $5 off pizzas and fajitas.

First-timer notes

It’s in the Willowbrook shopping area on the Township side. The dining room is lined with big screens, which makes it an easy pick for watching a game, and families are looked after with a $10 kids’ menu for 10 and under. For a quieter catch-up, there’s the patio in good weather. Ordering to go works through their pick-up link, or delivery through SkipTheDishes.
