Langley’s public libraries are not run by the City or the Township. They are branches of the Fraser Valley Regional Library, which operates 25 community libraries across the region. One card works at all of them, which is handy if you live in one place, work in another and take the kids to a third.

Getting a card
FVRL says signing up is free. You can do it in person at any branch. Adults need one piece of ID showing a current mailing address. Teens (13 to 18) need one piece of ID, such as a student card. For children 12 and under, you bring the child’s ID, for example a birth certificate, and proof of address for a parent or guardian. FVRL says non-residents may still qualify, and that businesses, daycares and non-profits can apply for a free institutional card. See FVRL’s card page for the details.
What you can do with it
FVRL’s home page lists, among other things:
- borrowing books, media and other items from the catalogue, plus interlibrary loans from beyond the region
- ebooks, audiobooks and other digital resources
- The Playground, with STEAM items and activities
- LinkedIn Learning courses
- computers and printing, including email-to-print, and library pods for semi-private work
- events, reading programs and online reading clubs
- a form to suggest a title for the collection
- managing checkouts, holds and fines in My Account
Card requirements for some of these, such as computers, are not spelled out on the home page, so ask at the desk.
