Langley Rugby Club has been part of the community since 1969, when it fielded its first men’s team. Today it offers rugby from the smallest players to adult teams, plus a social membership for supporters. According to the club, it bought and developed the land that has been its home for almost 30 years.

Programs

The club’s programs page lists:

Program Who Season When
Mini rugby Boys and girls, ages 3 to 12 Late February to end of May Games and practices Sundays and Wednesdays
Junior rugby Boys and girls, ages 13 to 18, in U14, U16 and U18 groups Mid-August to early December Training Monday to Thursday; games Sundays

The senior men’s side has a 1st Division, for players with higher fitness and commitment levels, and a 3rd Division, which the club describes as more social. The senior women’s team plays in the 2nd Division. The club’s front page says it has two senior men’s squads.

How to join

Registration is through links on the programs page; junior boys and girls each have their own link by age group, and seniors register through PlayHQ. The page does not list fees, so check the registration forms or write to the club’s secretary.

History

The Aldergrove Star marked the club’s 50th anniversary in June 2019 with a gala. It reported that the club was proposed by Bill Turpin, who was living in Aldergrove and teaching at the time, and that the first team had 15 players. The story notes that owning your own field and clubhouse is unusual for a rugby club.
