Langley runners have a few kinds of places to choose from: a proper athletics track, a covered walking surface for wet days, and flat paths and park loops. Distances here are only the ones an official source gives. Where a page doesn’t say how long something is, we haven’t guessed.

McLeod Athletic Park

McLeod Athletic Park is the Township’s track and field venue. It hosted the Bell Canadian Track and Field Championship in June 2022, and ahead of that event the track was resurfaced, the throws and jumps areas were redone and the stadium was upgraded, with the Township investing well over a million dollars. A Langley Advance Times report also notes that the artificial track surface had earlier been replaced before the 2008 B.C. Summer Games.

For questions about booking Township parks and facilities, the Township’s contact is [email protected], and it posts weekly field status updates for booked fields. The Township’s pages we read don’t list public drop-in track hours, so ask before you head over. More is on our sports fields page.

Langley Events Centre walking surface

The Langley Events Centre lists a walking surface at 7888 200 Street. Its page gives these details:

  • Open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm, subject to change. Call 604-882-8800 to confirm.
  • Users register at the Administration Desk inside Gate 1. There is a $10 annual fee.
  • The page doesn’t give the length of the surface.

Paths and loops runners use

City of Langley. The City describes the Rotary Floodplain Trail as a multi-use pathway across the city that connects to Surrey, “perfect for cycling, jogging, and walking.” Parking for access is off 53 Avenue, 203 Street and 208 Street. The Nicomekl floodplain trails include the Brydon Lagoon Nature Trail, which loops around a wildlife sanctuary, and Portage Park is the main entrance to that trail system. The City publishes a 2024 trail map booklet, though not trail lengths.

Campbell Valley Regional Park. Metro Vancouver’s brochure lists the Little River Loop at 2.3 km and the Perimeter Trail at 20 km, both flat and wheelchair accessible. The Ravine Trail Loop is 1.8 km with one steep hill. See our Campbell Valley page.

Derby Reach. The Edge Trail is a flat 2 km (about 40 minutes) walkers-only path among the big cottonwoods. The Fort to Fort Trail is shared with cyclists, and the full out-and-back from Fort Langley is 12 km. See Derby Reach and our hikes and walks guide for more distances.

Before you go

Metro Vancouver parks have posted closing hours, and the earliest closing time in Campbell Valley is 5 pm, so check the signs at the entrance. Dogs are on a leash on regional park trails, and our off-leash page covers where they can run free. Running races and group runs show up on our events page.
