If your kid has fallen in love with the water, or you just want a lane and a lane-mate, Langley has two clubs worth knowing about. One swims all year. The other is a summer tradition. Both are run as clubs, not drop-in lessons, so this page is about the team side of swimming. For public swim times, see the pool pages linked above.
Olympians Swimming (year-round)
The Langley and Abbotsford Olympians Swim Club is the year-round option. According to the club’s own pages, the Langley Olympians Swim Club formed in January 1998, the Abbotsford club followed in September 2002, and the two share resources, coaching, pool time and competitions. The club history page also says it adopted the umbrella name “Olympians Swimming” in 2024.
The About page describes roughly 260 members on the Langley side, from five-year-olds in learn-to-swim all the way up to adults. It says the aim is to look after everyone from beginners to elite swimmers, with goals around personal bests, teamwork and friendship. The club names Brian Metcalfe as CEO and head coach and says its coaches hold NCCP certification.
The Langley group trains at the Walnut Grove Community Centre pool, which is 50 metres, and the W.C. Blair Recreation Centre pool in Murrayville, which is 25 metres. The About page doesn’t say how to register or what it costs, and it doesn’t list a phone number or email, so start at the club’s site and its member sign-in area.
Langley Flippers (summer)
The Flippers are a summer swim club. A 2022 Aldergrove Star article describes it as a non-profit that has operated for more than 50 years, run by an elected volunteer board, offering coaching for all ages and abilities, from novices to provincial-level swimmers. The same article says it belongs to the BC Summer Swimming Association, Fraser Valley region.
The club’s 2026 registration listing describes a competitive summer program for ages five and up at Al Anderson Memorial Pool, May 1 to August 12, 2026. It gives a mailing address of PO Box 93038, Willowbrook Mall, Langley, BC V3A 0E9, and points to langleyflippers.com for everything else. That listing did not show fees and was marked as ended, so look for the 2027 details on the club’s website next spring.
Meets you can watch
The Flippers host an invitational swim meet at Al Anderson Memorial Pool. The City of Langley’s notice for the 2026 edition gave the dates as June 27 and 28, 2026 and said the pool is closed to the public while the meet runs. In 2022 the Aldergrove Star reported spectators were welcome to watch. Watch the City’s site and our events page for next year’s dates.
Where else to look
Swimming is only one of the sports with a page on this site. If you are weighing options for a young swimmer, the rec centres run lessons through the municipalities; start with the pool pages above, then come back here when you are ready for a team.
