Signing the kids up for sports in Langley: who runs what, and when the doors open

Hockey, soccer, baseball, rugby and swimming for Langley kids: which club to ask, the ages they take, what the season looks like, and which of them are closed to new sign-ups right now.

The awkward truth about kids’ sports in Langley is that the doors open at different times, and a few of them are shut by the time most parents start thinking about it. On the day we checked, Aldergrove Youth Soccer said registration was fully closed for every program, Langley Baseball’s page said it was closed for ages 7 and up (that page may not have been updated lately), and the minor hockey home page said rep evaluation applications were closed. That’s October. Spring is a different story.

So here is the lay of the land by sport, then a rough calendar.

The clubs

Hockey. Langley Minor Hockey is the Eagles, a non-profit association that runs “C” house hockey and “A” rep hockey, plus a First Shift program for newcomers and skills camps. The registration page covers residency requirements and proof of residency, so have documents ready. In Aldergrove, kids usually play with the separate Aldergrove Minor Hockey Association; check that association’s own site for its dates.

Soccer, two clubs. Langley United Soccer Association (LUSA) covers Active Start (U3 to U5), Grassroots (U6 to U10), youth (U11 to U18) and development academies (U6 to U18), plus adult programs. Registration is online only, through OttoSport, with no in-person sign-up; players need a headshot for their BC Soccer ID card, and LUSA charges a $30 administration fee for fall and $10 for spring. Its site showed both an early-bird fall banner and a “last chance for regular rates, May 15” banner when we looked, so confirm which round you’re in before you pay.

Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club serves Aldergrove, Langley and west Abbotsford with in-house development for U5 to U10, recreational for U11 to U16 and competitive for U11 to U18. Its 2026 fall deadlines were June 19 and July 24 for competitive divisions and September 4 for in-house and recreational, and the site lists a spring program for U5 to U16.

Baseball. Langley Baseball Association is a Little League club with more than 50 years behind it. Its registration page says that for ages 7 and up registration is closed and fall registration opens in mid-July, and that spring Blastball and T-Ball registration closed on February 28 in 2026. Mark late winter on the calendar for the little ones.

Rugby. Langley Rugby Club runs a spring program for boys and girls aged 3 to 12, with games and practices on Sundays and Wednesdays from late February to the end of May. Its fall youth program takes ages 13 to 18 in two-year age groups, with games on Sundays and training Monday to Thursday from mid-August to early December.

Swimming. Langley Flippers is the summer club, with its competitive season between May and August and a warning on its site that registration often fills up. The year-round option is the Langley and Abbotsford Olympians; our swim clubs page has the pools they use.

A rough year

When What to look for
January to February Spring baseball (Blastball and T-Ball closed on February 28 in 2026) and spring soccer; rugby’s spring program starts in late February
May to August Swim club season; fall soccer and baseball registration windows open, with competitive soccer deadlines as early as mid-June
August to September Fall rugby starts in mid-August; in-house soccer deadlines are early September; minor hockey’s own page has its registration dates
October Most doors are closed. Good time to email for next year’s dates

The point of the table isn’t to tell you exactly when to register, because the clubs change their dates. It’s to tell you that January to February and June to July are the months to check, and the clubs’ own pages above are where the real dates appear.

What’s missing

We haven’t been able to confirm official sites for Langley’s minor lacrosse, gymnastics, skating, basketball or martial-arts clubs yet, so they aren’t on this page. If your child plays with one, tell us.
