Virgin River follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner who leaves Los Angeles for a tiny Northern California town and ends up falling for Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), the local bar owner. The town is stitched together from all over the Lower Mainland: Squamish, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Maple Ridge, and, more than most fans realise, Langley.
Krause Berry Farms is Myrtle Farms
This is the one you can actually go to. Netflix’s location site says the market at Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery, on 248 Street, plays Myrtle Farms in the series. Preacher and Julia first meet there shopping for produce, and later the farm’s patio and gardens are the backdrop for a wine tasting where things between them start to warm up. The Langley Advance Times confirmed the Krause filming when Netflix added the show to its site in 2022.
The farm is on our list anyway for the berries, the bakery’s pies and the waffle bar, and it runs U-pick in summer and pumpkins in fall. Check its hours page before you go, since the market keeps seasonal hours. Our full page is Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery.
Lilly’s farm
Lilly’s farmhouse, which burned in season 5, is a real working farm in north Langley, according to YVRShoots, which has followed the show’s locations since the start. It says the same farmhouse turned up years earlier in The X-Files. It’s a private home, so we’re not pointing you to it.
Mel and Jack’s house and barn
In March 2024 a local spotted two new buildings going up in north Langley and posted about it; YVRShoots picked it up and guessed it was Mel and Jack’s new home. It was. The production built a house set and a barn set east of Lilly’s farm, toward Fort Langley, standing in for the couple’s dream home on the land where Lilly’s farm used to be. Season 6 (working title “Sea to Sea”) filmed in B.C. from February 21 to May 30, 2024, and the couple’s wedding ceremony and the reception inside the barn were shot there. By late December 2024 the barn was wrapped up between seasons and the house was still standing.
Season 7 filmed in B.C. from March 12 to June 20, 2025. Season 8 was in production by August 2026, when the cast and crew were seen in South Surrey’s Redwood Park.
Seeing it respectfully
- Go to Krause. It’s the only Virgin River location in Langley that’s open to the public, and it’s a good day out on its own.
- Leave the farm roads alone. The farmhouse and the house and barn sets are on private land in a quiet farming area. Lining up on the shoulder for photos is a safety problem on narrow rural roads and a nuisance for the people who live and farm there.
- Make a day of it. Fort Langley, north up the road, has been a favourite filming village for years and usually has a production somewhere in it. Our Fort Langley village guide has parking and the rest.
