Tracycakes sits at Five Corners in the old Mathews Cash Grocery building, which has gone from village grocery to village bakery. Tracy Dueck started the business in 2006 after years of cooking, baking and hosting for anyone who’d sit still, and her daughter has been part of it from the start. Murrayville is one of two cafés; the other is in Abbotsford. The business turned 20 this year and celebrated with a party at the Murrayville café in October.
What to get
- Cupcakes and babycakes: a rotating counter drawn from more than 60 flavours, sold singly or in packs (a mixed six-pack starts around $22.50 online)
- High tea: finger sandwiches, fresh scones with jam and Devonshire cream, and small desserts, served at the table
- Celebration and wedding cakes, made to order
- Take-home baking: cinnamon buns and cranberry scones
It also does a lunch menu, so it works for a midweek sandwich as well as a birthday tea.
Ordering ahead
Online orders need at least 48 hours’ notice and a pickup time; Murrayville pickup is available every day. If you’re bringing eight or more people, send the reservation request on their site and wait for the confirmation before you count on the table.
