Are we in the catchment?

Aldergrove Minor Baseball (AMBA) draws its players from a published boundary, and that’s the first thing worth checking: Zero Avenue on the south, Mt Lehman Road on the east, 196 Street on the west, and a northern edge that follows 64 Avenue east to 216 Street, north to Highway 1, east to 240 Street and north to the Fraser River. Live inside that and you’re a local. Live outside it and the neighbouring clubs, such as Langley Baseball, may be the closer fit.

The association says registration is done online, and it asks families to register early because late fees apply.

Which division?

Divisions go by birth year, using the age a child turns by December 31 of the playing year. The club’s pages describe them like this:

  • 5U is for four- and five-year-olds, non-competitive, all fun and basics.
  • 7U covers six and seven, with throwing, base running, receiving and hitting.
  • 9U covers eight and nine. The games get longer, the rules get more traditional, and players learn to hit a ball “pitched” by a machine.
  • 11U is where live pitching and a regulation hard ball arrive.
  • 13U is tiered (A, AA and AAA). 15U (ages 14 and 15) and 18U (ages 16 to 18) carry on the pattern.

For girls who want to play one year younger, the club’s fall ball notice points to an allowance under BC Minor Baseball rules and a matching option on the registration form.

The year, round by round

Spring runs April to June, with game schedules usually out by late March and practice days set by each coach. Summer ball is the more serious layer: for 2026 the club listed 7U, 8U, 9U, 11U and 13U A teams, running mid-June to the end of July with games and tournaments against neighbouring associations. From 8U up it expects players who can make practices and games at least three times a week.

Local flavour: the Langley Advance Times covered the Aldergrove Dodgers 9U summer team on October 28, 2026, after a season that was mostly about learning the game and, for several players, a first taste of tournaments. The team’s end-of-season treat was a photo shoot styled on the film The Sandlot. The association’s own pages we read don’t use the Dodgers name, so we’re crediting that to the paper.

Fall ball has a house program for 2026 with registration through the club’s TeamSnap One link. Winter ball is open for registration now:

  • 5U/7U: Wednesdays 5:30 to 6:30 PM at Parkside Elementary School (gym), $110, parent participation required.
  • 9U: Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the same gym, $160.
  • 11U: Mondays and Fridays 5:30 to 6:30 PM at Aldergrove Cages, $160.
  • 13U: Mondays and Fridays 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Aldergrove Cages, $160.
  • 15U/18U: Mondays and Fridays 7:30 to 8:30 PM at Aldergrove Cages, $160.

The 5U/7U and 9U sessions start November 4 and the club lists no Wednesday session on November 11. Check the winter ball post for the full date list before you book.

Rep ball: the Township Blue Sox

For players who want a higher level, AMBA and North Langley Diamond Sports run the Township Blue Sox as a joint program, with 13U, 15U and 18U teams and a tryout process. The club says selections begin in January and sends families to townshipbaseball.ca for tryouts and registration.

Things to know before you sign up

  • Volunteering is part of the deal. Each family owes four hours (two of them in the concession for 5U to 18U), counted per family, not per player. A $200 volunteer deposit cheque, card authorization or opt-out payment is required before uniforms go out. Hours are logged by QR code at each volunteer session.
  • The refund rule is date-based. Per the club’s FAQ, a refund request after the first scheduled game and before April 30 gets 50% of fees minus a $30 administration fee. After April 30, nothing.
  • Spring registration adds a $50 raffle charge, which players can earn back selling ticket books. That’s from the club’s registration page.
  • Gear: glove, batting helmet and athletic protection, with cleats recommended from 8U/9U and metal cleats not allowed until 15U.
  • Help with cost: the club points to JumpStart and KidSport, and asks you to share your funding confirmation with the registrar.
  • Coaching: no baseball résumé required, according to the club, and BC Baseball offers coach training.

Fees, dates and rules change season to season. The registration pages above are the source of truth.

Where to play

The home diamonds are at Aldergrove Athletic Park, which the club describes as having diamonds for every level, a clubhouse with a concession and a dual batting cage. In 2022 volunteers upgraded the cages into a roofed, four-season building. The club’s cage booking page currently says the cages are closed, so ask before planning around them.
