Langley Memorial Hospital

Langley Memorial Hospital sits on Fraser Highway and serves both the City and the Township. It is a Fraser Health site, and Fraser Health’s page describes it as open around the clock, every day, with a 24/7 emergency service.

What’s there

Fraser Health’s service list for the hospital includes emergency, general medicine, general surgery, surgical daycare, intensive care, a neonatal intensive care unit, maternity (with a clinic), antepartum and postpartum care, pediatrics, inpatient psychiatry, ambulatory care, long-term care and outpatient rehabilitation. Imaging and diagnostics include CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, fluoroscopy, echocardiography, a laboratory and a pharmacy. The emergency department

A 2021 provincial news release announced an expanded emergency department: treatment bays going from 31 to 49, two trauma bays, a separate pediatric waiting area, a dedicated space for mental health and substance use care, and a new entrance that separates walk-in patients from ambulance arrivals. The release says the department had been built in 1986 and that yearly visits had grown to more than 44,000. The funding came from the province through Fraser Health along with $10 million from the hospital foundation, which included $1.5 million from the Auxiliary.

Parking and visiting

Fraser Health lists three lots: the main lot, the emergency lot and Memorial Cottage. You can pay at a pay station or through the hangTag app. Its page shows, for example, a first-hour rate of $3.50 in the main lot and $3.75 in the emergency lot, but rates can change, so check the page. Parking Administration (604-930-5440, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, or [email protected]) can talk through financial hardship permits.

Visiting hours vary by unit, so ask the unit before you go. The site is smoke-free and scent-free. Friends and family can send a message to a patient through [email protected]; include the patient’s full legal name, unit and room number. Patients can’t reply through that service.

The hospital is at 22051 Fraser Highway. For buses, TransLink’s trip planner will give you current routes from your door to the address.

Charities and groups that support the hospital

Several community groups raise money and give time for the hospital:

• Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation: the charity that raises funds for equipment, services and programs.
• Langley Hospice Society: palliative care and grief support in the community.
• Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary: a volunteer-run registered charity. Its official site says it runs the Penny Pincher Thrift Store and the hospital Gift Shop, and lists volunteer pages for the Auxiliary, the thrift store, the gift shop, the welcome and information desk, and a youth program called VolunTEENS.
