Beyond Fibre runs Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2026, 10 am to 4 pm, at West Langley Hall. The guild’s juried show and sale is where most people first meet it, so that’s where to start.

The sale

Beyond Fibre fills the hall with woven, knitted, spun and felted work made by guild members, plus guest artisans. The guild’s Artisan Sale page names this year’s guests as Creative Leather, Ed Pretty Wood Turning, Creighton Apieries, Carla Swope Jewelry, Heirloom Ceramics, Care 4 U, Button Willow, Jewelry Journey, Yarn Boler, Soy Candles and Sunshine Jewelry. The Langley Advance Times reports sweaters, hats, mitts and scarves, household things such as tea towels and blankets, and decor and accessories, with fibre demonstrations running through both days. It is also a place to buy supplies: yarn, fibre, notions and equipment. Admission is by donation.

The guild the rest of the year

The guild was formed in 1971 and describes itself as a teaching, learning and sharing group. Its stated aims are to demonstrate and exhibit in the community, share skills among members, keep a lending library of books, magazines and videos on spinning, weaving, dyeing, felting and knitting, and run a scholarship fund for members. You don’t have to spin or weave to join, and the guild says all experience levels are welcome.

Its events page lists a regular rhythm:

  • General meeting, third Tuesday, with a short program at each one (spinning for socks and using a distaff are two the guild gives as examples).
  • Needles & Hooks, second Tuesday, 7 pm: bring whatever you’re working on.
  • Fibre Fun Day, third Sunday, 1 to 4 pm: any fibre project.
  • Evening Spin-In, fourth Tuesday, 7 pm.
  • Daytime Spin-In at the Langley library, first Thursday of the month.

The monthly sessions are listed at “LAC”, which matches the Langley Arts Council building where the guild holds its meetings. Members can also rent spinning wheels, looms and other equipment, which is handy when you’re still deciding what to buy.
