Taking new patients, same-day emergency appointments, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan is accepted (call for details)

A small cream building at 88 Avenue and 212 Street has had a dentist in it since 1992. These days it’s Allard Dental Centre, and here are the things people tend to ask before booking.

Who runs it?

Dr. Fatemeh Basij bought the practice in 2018. She has taught as a clinical instructor at UBC, and her site says she funds two scholarships a year for local high-school students heading into oral health and gives to the Langley Food Bank. Two specialists work in the office alongside her: a periodontist, Dr. Payam Matin (gums, grafts, implants), and an endodontist, Dr. Kiarash Shabehpour (root canals).

What if something hurts today?

They list same-day emergency appointments for toothaches, chipped or knocked-out teeth, lost fillings or crowns and abscesses. Phone first rather than turning up.

Does it take insurance, and the CDCP?

Their site says yes to the Canadian Dental Care Plan (call the office for the details), lists direct billing with most major insurers, and mentions instalment payments for long-term patients. No fees are posted, so ask for an estimate.

I really don’t like the dentist

Oral sedation is offered for longer or more invasive work, taken about an hour beforehand, and you decide on it with the dentist ahead of time. One of the treatment rooms has ocean scenes in the ceiling lights, which is a small kindness if you spend the appointment looking up.

What’s the equipment like?

Digital X-rays, a 3D cone-beam scanner, an intraoral scanner for digital impressions and an intraoral camera, all listed on their technology page. They also do implants, Invisalign, crowns, wisdom teeth and cosmetic work.

Book by phone at 604-882-0568 or through the request form on their site.
