Central Park Farms is where a lot of south Langley households restock the freezer. It’s a proper farm store, open seven days, selling the meat and eggs the family raises, plus dinners made in their own kitchen.

What to pick up

  • Free-range chicken, including whole roasters (from about $29 online, depending on size, when we checked)
  • Pasture-raised pork and grass-fed Black Angus beef
  • Eggs from their own hens
  • Prepared dinners, soups and sauces from the farm kitchen
  • Pantry extras: Canadian-made goods, local dairy and sourdough bread

Stock follows processing. Their FAQ says beef is released monthly, while chicken and pork are restocked weekly, so the cuts on the shelf change from visit to visit. Out back, the Pasture Patio is a spot to sit with whatever you’ve bought. It isn’t a restaurant.

How it started

Kendall Ballantine left a corporate career, and her husband Jay had run a quail farm before. They started in 2015 with a first batch of 500 chickens sold straight to households. Pork and eggs followed, then grass-fed beef in 2018. What began as a small farm stand grew into delivery, farm pickup and now the bigger store with its own kitchen. They also raise livestock on a ranch in Rock Creek.

The farm won the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets’ 2019 Vendor of the Year (Farmer), and Kendall was the Greater Langley Chamber’s 2018 Under 40 Business Person of the Year. They donate meat to Sources Food Bank in Langley and the Boundary Food Bank.
