Bring in the glasses you already own and the first thing that happens is someone looks at them. That’s how Debbie Mozelle’s shop works: before anything gets sold, the frame is checked to see what it can still do. The shop has lit walls of frames, a counter of bright glasses cases and an optician who has been fitting Langley faces since 1990.

What you can get done here

  • New glasses and sunglasses: custom bifocal and progressive lenses, blue-light lenses and children’s frames
  • Fixes in their own lab: tightening, alignment, new nose pads and replacement arms, on the spot or the same day
  • New lenses in your old frames: they need to see the frame first, because not every older frame can safely take new lenses
  • Contact lens training: a one-hour, hands-on session on putting lenses in, taking them out and looking after them
  • Insurance: they say they bill most benefit plans directly, so ask when you book

Sight test or eye exam?

Worth knowing before you call. A sight test works out your prescription, and the optician can do it. It isn’t an eye health exam, which has to come from an optometrist or another medical practitioner. If you’re overdue for that, book it first. If you’re only due for a new prescription, a sight test here can be enough.

The tactical shelf

Not what you expect in a downtown optical shop. They carry impact-rated, anti-fog safety and tactical eyewear that meets ANSI Z87.1 and MIL-SPEC ratings, from brands such as Wiley X and Oakley, with prescription lenses available. Useful for job sites, outdoor sports and anyone who is hard on glasses.

Who’s behind it
