Your cabinet doors leave the house on day one and come back a week to ten days later in a new colour. That’s the rhythm of a Kitchen Makeovers job, and it’s the reason the company has a spray line in Aldergrove: the doors and drawer fronts are finished there, not in your kitchen.
Refinish, reface or replace?
Their answer starts with whether your cabinet boxes are still solid.
- Refinish: keep your doors and boxes, change the colour. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed with an industrial two-component coating and bake-cured in the shop. The frames, end panels and crown get finished on site to match.
- Reface: the boxes stay, but you get brand-new doors and drawer fronts, which suits doors that have swollen or sagged, or a style you never liked.
- Replace: only when the boxes themselves are past saving, and they say they’ll tell you so if that’s the case.
They also do pull-out organizers and corner storage, carpentry such as islands or ceiling-height cabinets that match what’s already there, and a do-it-yourself kit where they finish the doors and you tackle the frames. Countertops can be coordinated through FloForm.
How a job goes
About four days of work happen in your home, split around a 7 to 10 day gap while the doors are in the shop. Most projects wrap within a few weeks of the deposit. There’s no one-size price: the website has a cost calculator for a ballpark, and the free in-home quote gives line-item numbers you can trim.
Who’s behind it
Tanya Bilmer started the company in 2009 after about 20 years in the trade, on the idea that a kitchen often needs a new look, not demolition. Johnny Alvernaz runs it day to day as owner and general manager. The crew of 30-plus (estimators, prep, spray, installers, carpenters) are employees, not subcontractors, and they turn out roughly 10 to 15 kitchens a week across the Lower Mainland.
