The window decals do the talking: a pause symbol, a play arrow with “drink coffee” under it, and a rewind button. Projekt Blend sits under a big wooden sign on Fraser Highway, and the pitch is simple. Stop for a minute.

The menu goes well beyond coffee and a muffin. It’s a brunch menu with an espresso bar attached, so it works for a sit-down lunch as much as a quick flat white.

What to order

Their website names four best-sellers, and each one is built on pressed, waffled or toasted bread:

  • Smash Burger Longganisa: a crispy smash patty with longganisa (Filipino sausage), a fried egg and pickled onions on a toasted croissant bun
  • Three Cheese: a triple-cheese melt pressed between waffle bread, with house slaw
  • Monte Cristo: ham and swiss in a jam-pressed waffle sandwich dusted with icing sugar, with slaw
  • Cheddar Scrambled Eggs: soft scrambled eggs, cheddar, herb aioli and sriracha mayo on a croissant

On the coffee side, the prices posted when we looked were $3.50 for an espresso, $4.25 for an Americano, $5.25 for a cappuccino, $5.50 for a flat white or an 18-hour cold brew, and $5.75 for a latte. The menu also has signature drinks, non-coffee drinks and tea, and a pastry section. The café says its baking is fresh daily and its coffee is all specialty grade.

Two cafés

There are two Projekt Blends, and its own Locations page calls this one “our original home”. The second, on Dewdney Trunk Road, is in Maple Ridge.

Before you go

Their website lists 7 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 8 pm on weekends. Google’s listing shows a 9 pm close, so if you’re heading over late, call 604-425-4399 first, or email [email protected]. The website has an Order Online button, but the ordering page we opened was titled for Maple Ridge, so make sure you’re picking the Langley café before you pay.
