From the street, Beatniks Bistro still looks like what it used to be: somebody’s house. There’s a small covered porch with a brown glass door, a hanging basket and two big stone planters. The restaurant’s own story says the building went up in 1933 as the Moorhouse residence, which makes it one of the oldest in Fort Langley, and that it sat vacant for a while until the Choquette family bought it and started imagining a “cool little restaurant” with good food and live music. BC business records show Beatniks registered in 2004.

What’s on the menu

The March 2026 menus are a lot more than burgers. Starters and share plates include crab cakes, a prawn cocktail, tuna crudo, arancini and Beatniks wings (panko-breaded, with your choice of sweet chili, honey mustard, hot, or salt and pepper). There are salads, among them a beet one with goat cheese and candied pecans, and handhelds like a Cajun salmon sandwich, a bacon cheddar burger and a French dip. The bigger plates (steak frites, seafood linguine, a king salmon dish, scallops) ran about $28 to $40 on that menu, so check the PDF before you go, since prices move.

Weekend brunch is served until 2:30, with things like a croque madame, avocado toast, steak and eggs and a chorizo frittata. The main menu also says weekday breakfast is available until 3 pm if you ask your server.

Patio, music and Oktoberfest

Outdoor seating runs in season, with tables out front on the porch side of the house. On Thursday evenings there’s live music; their site gives different end times on different pages, so the safe answer is that it starts at 6. The restaurant also holds an annual Oktoberfest, which it bills as possibly the largest in the Fraser Valley, with dirndls and lederhosen, imported Oktoberfest draught, and music and food to match, according to their event page.

Before you go

  • They generally don’t take reservations. In the winter months, groups of 6 to 16 can email [email protected] and allow 48 hours for a reply. Inside 48 hours, phone the restaurant.
  • They open from 10:30 on stat holidays and close on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
  • The restaurant says it can’t guarantee any dish is allergen-free, because nuts, shellfish, soy and wheat are in use across the kitchen.
