Look for the seagull. It’s on the neon sign, all over the poster-covered walls and on the menu, where the chicken tenders are called Seagull Strips. Steven’s is a cheerfully offbeat bar and kitchen on the Fraser Highway one-way, and the decor moves with the calendar: in October it was an “alien takeover”, with alien figures behind the bar and a costume weekend.
What’s on the menu
It’s bar food with a few twists, and the prices below are from their site on Oct 31, 2026:
- Smash burgers: from the O.G. (American cheese, pickles, mustard sauce and peppercorn mayo, $20) up to a PB&J smash on Texas toast ($22.50). Sandwiches come with matchstick fries, and a double patty is $4 more.
- Puffy tacos, served in pairs on fresh-fried masa shells: crispy achiote pork, pulled chicken, smoked cauliflower or birria ($15 to $17.50).
- Starters: crispy fried calamari with lime leaf dust and chili lime aioli ($18), wagyu beef gyoza ($18), a tot supreme and a hot corn dip.
- Also: a birria grilled cheese ($16), a Szechuan chicken rice bowl ($23) and a mini donut and dip flight for dessert ($13).
The burger in our photos was October’s entry in Langley Burger Month, which has ended, so ask what’s on now.
Drinks and the patio
The cocktail list is split into sections called Intergalactic, Planetary and Another Dimension, and there’s beer and wine too. The happy-hour list on their site includes a house lager, Chaberton wine and a few frozen drinks. Patio tables with bright chairs sit under the hanging umbrellas outside; check their Instagram to see whether they’re out.
Who’s behind it
Vancouver Magazine’s 2024 guide to eating in Langley describes Angela Ruscheinski as creative director and co-founder of Steven’s and its sister restaurant, Haven, which is a separate restaurant at 19664 64 Avenue. It names no other founders, so we haven’t either.
Before you go
The $14 lunch deal is Monday to Friday until 5: a birria grilled cheese or a BLT with the feature soup. Reservations go through their reservations page, and the Instagram is the place for what’s new. More downtown places are in Shop Local in Langley City and our Langley City guide.
