Sidebar Grill

A smash burger with a sleeve of Budweiser for $22 all day on Mondays says a lot about Sidebar Grill: a big menu, plenty of seats and a deal for nearly every night. It held its grand opening party in Latimer Village on 83A Avenue in August 2023, and its website lists a second Sidebar opening in Chilliwack in January 2027.

The week at Sidebar

• Monday: burger and brew
• Tuesday: $2 off tacos
• Wednesday: half-price on select bottles of wine and $4 off pastas
• Thursday: $3 off burgers and sandwiches
• Friday and Saturday: a chef’s feature dish
• Sunday: $3 off the Thai bowl, poke bowl or mac and cheese

Happy hour runs daily from 2 to 5 pm and again from 9 pm to close.

What’s on the plate

The menu is wide: lemon pepper calamari and baked brie to share, Baja fish tacos, wings in sauces like Bee’s Knees and Mango Mongo, a beef dip, a lamb burger, seafood linguini and a hot-smoked salmon vodka penne. Bowls cover Thai chicken, tuna poke and chicken shawarma. Weekend brunch brings eggs Benedict, buttermilk chicken and waffles, French toast and breakfast bowls. Vegetarian and gluten-friendly items are marked, and any pasta can be made with gluten-free pasta for $3.

Rooms and groups

The covered patio has its own fireplace and seats 75 (100 standing). Upstairs, the Mezz is a semi-private room for up to 10 with a balcony and a TV, though there is no elevator. A full restaurant buyout holds 150 seated or 200 standing, with custom menus and a projector if you need one.
