Gateway of Hope is The Salvation Army’s Langley location. Its site says it serves people in Langley and Aldergrove, with help ranging from emergency assistance to longer-term support. This page sums up what the Army and the BC211 listings say.

What’s there

The Gateway site lists:

  • shelter programs
  • a community meal centre, open to everyone for lunch
  • spiritual care
  • material assistance
  • an Opportunities program, described as an abstinence-based community for single adult men

It also names a school supply program, Camp Sunrise and a community income tax program.

Meals

BC211’s food listing gives the Community Meal Centre lunch at 12:30 pm daily. It also lists Skillet 101, a six-week community kitchen on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm (registration needed), and Christmas hampers for singles, couples without children, and seniors who live in Langley. Listings change, so call to confirm times before you go.

Emergency shelter

According to BC211’s shelter listing, run by The Salvation Army BC Division:

  • 32 emergency beds for adults, 22 in a dorm and 10 in a second space
  • intake open 24 hours a day, with guests asked to stay in from 10 pm to 4 am
  • three hot meals a day, laundry, phone access, advocacy and a housing registry
  • wheelchair access, storage for bikes, and room for up to two small pets at a time
  • an extreme weather shelter and warming centre
  • alcohol and drug use not permitted on site, and priority given to Langley residents

If you or someone else needs help finding services, our food bank and where to get help page also covers 211.

Volunteering

The Gateway volunteer page lists ongoing roles at the Community Meal Centre, the Emergency Shelter and the reception office, plus special events and one-time projects. It also mentions bell ringing for the Christmas Kettle Campaign. Applications go through an online portal linked from the page. For questions, email or phone the numbers above. More options are on our volunteering guide.

Donating

The site has a donate page at gatewayofhope.ca/donate. See also our charities and galas guide.
