A short history
- 2008: the first Ban Chok Dee opens at 203 Street and 53A Avenue
- 2009: it moves to its current home on Douglas Crescent
- 2016: a second restaurant opens in the Westgate centre in Maple Ridge

What to order
Parinya says her menu draws on the cooking of all four regions of Thailand, which she told the Aldergrove Star isn’t something many Thai restaurants in Canada do. The menu is split into appetizers, soups and salads, curries, street food, wok dishes, noodles and rice, and seafood specials. When we checked in October, a few markers:
- To start: five house-made spring rolls ($12), or the Chok Dee platter ($25) of spring rolls, golden wontons and chicken and pork satay
- Curries: green, red, yellow and panang, from $18, with tofu as an option
- Noodles: pad thai from $17, and kao soi, the Chiang Mai-style curried egg noodles, at $20
- Meat-free: a seasonal stir-fry, garlic green beans and greens in peanut sauce, each $16
Groups, takeout and catering
The big dining room can host parties of up to 60, and an enclosed, heated sunroom seats about 20 comfortably for year-round gatherings. For a group booking, call and speak to a manager. Everyone else can book a table online or order takeout through the Langley page on their website. Off-site catering, for groups of up to 300 or more, starts with an inquiry form on their site.
Before you go
They’re open every day, but there’s a gap between 3 and 4:30, with last orders at 2:30 and 8:30. The restaurant’s own site lists 778-278-3088. The Chamber directory shows a slightly different number, so use the one on their site.
