Good to know
First class is $10. Bring clean indoor shoes with non-marking soles and a water bottle, and arrive 5 to 10 minutes early

Ten dollars gets you into your first class, and nobody checks whether you’ve danced before. That’s the whole pitch at Hustle & Flow, an adults-only dance company that runs classes in Langley without owning a studio. It rents floor time at three of them, so the first thing to learn is which building to drive to.

What’s on the weekly schedule

Four regular drop-ins, all open to any level:

  • Heels, Tuesdays 6:30 pm at Thrive. Heels optional, the site says; attitude required.
  • Hip Hop, Wednesdays 6:30 pm at Thrive.
  • Sassy Sneakers, Wednesdays 6:30 pm at Thrive. A hip hop and jazz mix, billed as their most popular class.
  • Beginner Ballet, Saturdays 9 am at Studio One. No pointe.

Booking is through Momence, linked from the Schedule page (Classes tab for drop-ins, Semesters for programs); check it for the current month before you go.

Going further

The Performance & Training Program is the bigger commitment: ten weeks in fall and spring, two hours a week, ending with a live show. Beginner level is open to anyone, no audition; higher levels are by invitation. The fall group’s showcase is November 28 at 5 pm and 8:30 pm, with tickets through Eventbrite.

Winter ends in a cabaret at a brewery. The 2027 edition, announced on Instagram in late October, is a pop-punk heels show rehearsing Mondays at 6 pm from January 4 at Studio One and performing February 27 and 28 at Dead Frog Brewery, $320 plus GST, applications from November 15. The website calls winter a six-week program and the post says eight, so confirm the length before you commit. There’s also a spring showcase in June and a yearly performance on the ice at an Abbotsford Canucks game (the site lists March 9).

Who runs it

Nikita, the founder, says the dance studios of her own childhood were full of judgment about size and being “too much or not enough”, and she built this one to be the opposite. Her bio lists 25-plus years of dancing, teaching by day, and certifications in heels and in pre- and postnatal fitness. That last part shows up as Like A Mother, a postpartum class for anyone six weeks or more past delivery ($23.50 plus GST a class, or $130 plus GST for six weeks, with some sliding-scale spots), due back in early 2027. No childminding, so line up care first.

Parties and parking

Bachelorette and birthday sessions are 90-minute private classes for up to 15 or 20 people in your pick of style and songs; ask through the site’s contact form.

At Thrive, park in the Big Box Outlet lot next door, since the spots out front are for quick pick-ups. At Fusion Force, the class is in the second studio at the back right of the lot. Wear anything you can move in, bring socks for ballet, and if you’re late, slip in quietly and join.
