Monster Auto Lab’s own story starts small: a group of friends who loved cars, a small older commercial unit barely big enough for three cars, and an opening that landed just as the pandemic did. That’s how their About page tells it. The shop now runs from a 3,500 square foot workshop on 203 Street, just down the street from that first unit, and has added a second shop in Vancouver.

Here are the questions we’d want answered before handing over keys.

What do they actually do?

Four main jobs: clear paint protection film (PPF), ceramic coating, window tint and vinyl wraps. They also do windshield protection film and Tesla-specific packages. The film they install is XPEL, and the shop says it was XPEL’s top dealer in BC from 2022 to 2024 and in Western Canada in 2025. Those awards are their claim; we haven’t checked them with XPEL.

What does it cost?

It varies by vehicle size and how complicated the install is, and the shop doesn’t post a price list. Their quote form asks for your vehicle’s details and which package you want. Film ranges from a partial front end to a full vehicle, in gloss, matte or colour. Ceramic coating comes in 2, 5 and 10 year packages. They say they answer messages within 24 business hours.

What happens after you pick it up?

Their aftercare advice is worth reading before you book:

  • Wait 48 hours before the first wash so the film can cure.
  • Skip automatic car washes. They say harsh detergents and pressure can void the warranty.
  • If you pressure wash, stay at least 3 feet from the film’s edges.
  • The 10 year XPEL warranty covers defects like yellowing, cracking, blistering and delaminating, and a claim starts by bringing the car back to them.

Their FAQ also says ceramic coating goes on top of film, not underneath it.

Before you go

They’re open Monday to Saturday, 9 to 5:30, at A115–6286 203 Street. Call 604-757-5769 or use the quote form on their site. The owners aren’t named anywhere we could find, so we can’t tell you who you’ll meet at the counter.
