Q: Why buy running shoes here instead of online? Because someone watches you run in them first. Peninsula Runners fits shoes one-on-one and offers a free gait analysis. Recent reviews mostly mention staff who took their time, and that beginners weren’t made to feel out of place.
Q: Who runs it? Runners. Paul Williams opened the first Peninsula Runners in White Rock in 1996 after his competitive running career. Phil Ellis joined in 1997 and helped open the Walnut Grove store in 2001. Phil is still the Langley co-owner and general manager. The Langley shop marked 25 years with a sidewalk sale at the end of August 2026.
Q: What do they sell? Mostly running and walking shoes, including the current Brooks and HOKA models, plus technical socks, apparel and accessories. A pair of Altra Torin 9 GTX was $210 in their online shop when we checked.
Q: Can they help me start running? Yes. The fall Learn to Run clinic meets at the store from September 16 to December 2. They also run 5K, 10K and half and full marathon groups, so you can find one to suit you.
Q: Do they give back? Their Heritage to Hatzic run in March 2026 raised more than $10,000 for the Mission Hospice Society.
Q: When can I go? Monday 11 to 5, Tuesday 10 to 5, Wednesday 11 to 7 (the late night), Thursday 10 to 5, Friday 10 to 5:30, Saturday 10 to 5 and Sunday noon to 5. Phone 604-888-1338.
