The Joy of Coffee is one of those neighbourhood coffee shops where the staff know the regulars’ orders. It sits in Murrayville Square with a patio out front, and it has been pouring coffee for this part of Langley for more than three decades.
What to order
- Espresso drinks: americanos, lattes and the usual café menu
- Coconut scones: the item regulars mention most
- Muffins and other baked treats, plus light bites
- Beans to go: bags of whole-bean coffee on the shelf, with origins like Guatemala and Colombia and house blends
Reviewers mostly describe a relaxed, unhurried room and staff who remember their regulars. It’s a good spot to sit with a newspaper or meet a friend, rather than a rushed drive-through stop.
A community fixture
The shop calls itself local and family-owned, with more than 30 years in Murrayville. It has hosted Remembrance Day poppy donation boxes every year, and collection boxes for cancer causes, which is the kind of thing a corner coffee shop does when it’s been part of a neighbourhood for that long.
Before you go
It’s open every day: 7 am to 6 pm on weekdays, from 7:30 am on Saturdays and 8 am on Sundays, closing at 6. There’s parking on site and patio seating in good weather. Call 604-534-0204, or check their Facebook page for news.
